Dog bite claim settles after liability dispute with dog owner

Boyd Rice Solicitors were instructed to act on behalf of Ms McG in respect of a claim for injuries arising from an incident which occurred when she was out walking her own dog near to her home. She sustained injuries to her leg when she was bitten on several occasions by a dog which was not on its lead. She was also bitten on the arm by the dog. She had to attend her GP for a tetanus injection and took antibiotics for one week. She was left traumatised by the incident and required diazepam.
After a search via google she contacted Boyd Rice Solicitors and spoke to Neil McGranaghan. Neil specialises in dog bite cases. A letter of claim was sent to the dog owner and a medical appointment arranged with a Consultant Plastic Surgeon. Thankfully the dog owner had insurance and his insurance company confirmed that they would deal with the claim. An appointment was also arranged with a Consultant Psychiatrist who confirmed that our client had suffered an adjustment disorder after the incident.
Given the extent of our clients injuries, both physical and psychiatric, Neil issued Court proceedings to ensure that his client obtained maximum compensation. Discussions took place before Court and an offer was made to compensate our client for her injuries. This offer was rejected as it was not deemed sufficient and after a short period an increased and more appropriate offer was made in the sum of £20,000.
